G.i.Joe History

When did the first GI Joes appear?
Joe is an American action figure franchise created by the toy company Hasbro in 1964. It began with a line of 12-inch action figures and expanded over time, releasing more than 500 different models. This was made possible by creative marketing strategies and good business decisions that revolutionized the toy market.
GI Joe is a term used to refer to a "soldier", especially in the US Armed Forces. It became more common during World War II. The acronym GI can mean several things, such as galvanized iron, general infantry, or general issue. "Joe" was slang for "common man".

WHAT WERE THE FIRST DOLLS PRODUCED IN BRAZIL?
Who was the creator?
In 1964, Stan Weston pitched Hasbro an idea for a toy that could compete with the success of Barbie, but aimed at boys. Inspired by the military theme, he sold the concept to the company for $100,000. Hasbro developed GI Joe, equipping the doll with detailed weapons and accessories. To stand out in the market and avoid competition, Hasbro created versions representing different branches of the military: Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.

In Brazil, GI Joe first arrived in 1977, launched by Estrela under the name Comandos em Ação - Falcon, inspired by the Adventure Team collection. In 1984, Estrela launched a new version called Comandos em Ação, based on the GI Joe: A Real American Hero collection. In total, around 120 dolls were launched in the country.
